What is BVN verification?+
BVN verification checks an 11-digit Bank Verification Number and returns the identity record linked to it, so you can confirm a customer’s identity before you serve them.
How much does BVN verification cost?+
₦150.00 per successful check, paid from your Verity wallet. Failed checks and numbers with no record are refunded automatically. High-volume businesses can ask for a lower rate.
Does BVN verification return a photo and phone number?+
Yes, when the record has them. The result includes the photo and phone number on the BVN record, along with name, date of birth and gender.
Can I validate a BVN with a selfie?+
Yes. Verity’s face match compares a live selfie with the BVN photo and gives you a similarity score, so you can approve customers automatically on your own threshold.
Is consent required for a BVN check?+
Yes. You need the customer’s consent and a lawful reason under the Nigeria Data Protection Act. Verity asks you to confirm consent with every check.
Is there a BVN verification API?+
Yes. POST the BVN to /api/v1/verify/bvn with your API key. Test keys are free, and the API docs have examples in Node.js, PHP, Laravel and Python.
