Verity / Legal

Privacy Policy

Your identity information deserves careful handling. This policy explains what Verity collects, why, and the choices available to you.

Effective 6 October 2026

1. Who controls your information

Verity is responsible for the personal information we collect through the website and account dashboard. Contact us at support@verity.com.ng for privacy questions or requests.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details: name, email address, Nigerian phone number, account type, and business name if applicable.
  • Security details: a password hash, session cookie, and basic technical information needed to operate and protect the site.
  • When verification features are available and used: identity numbers submitted for checks, check results, and records of the request.
  • When payment features are available and used: transaction and wallet records. Payment providers may collect payment details directly under their own policies.

We ask you to provide another person's identity details only when you have their explicit authority and a lawful reason to do so.

3. Why we use it

We use account details to register you, sign you in, and provide your dashboard; technical data to keep the service secure and working; and verification data to carry out a check you request and keep its record. We also use information to answer support requests, prevent misuse, and meet legal obligations. Depending on the activity, our legal basis may be our contract with you, your or the identity holder's consent, our legitimate interest in security and service operation, or a legal obligation.

4. Who receives it

Authorised staff and service providers may access information only as needed to run Verity. This can include hosting, security, payment, and identity verification providers when those features are enabled. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Storage, security, and retention

We use access controls, encrypted connections, password hashing, and other appropriate safeguards. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We retain account and activity records while needed to provide the service, address disputes, and meet legal or regulatory duties; after that we delete or de-identify them where practicable. You can request account closure and deletion of eligible information by contacting us.

6. Cookies

Verity uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in. It lasts for up to seven days unless you sign out earlier. The site does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, and request a portable copy where applicable. Email support@verity.com.ng with enough detail for us to identify your request. You may also raise a concern with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

8. International processing

Some service providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we will use protections required by applicable data protection law and assess the provider's handling of the information.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the service or our data practices change. The current version and effective date will be posted here. We will give appropriate notice of material changes.
